Under Construction

I have been m.i.a. for the past week because my husband and I have been on vacation!  Well, not the sort of vacation one dreams of.  In fact, it's been quite the opposite.  We have been knee deep in renovations that are finally coming to a close.  I am going to give just a little sneak peak to hold you over til it's done ;)

Remember my stair stencil post, here?  Well, I've decided to take the leap now that we've removed our crummy old stair carpet!  I've got a little more work to do to the stairs before I can stencil, but I am super excited to put the plan into action!  I figure it's only paint so if I get tired of it, all I have to do is paint over it and no harm done.

Here are the 3 top contendors for the stencils.  Which would you pick?

The best part is that my husband is totally on board with this idea!

Giveaway Winner

Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway!  I loved reading about your favorite Halloween costumes.  My favorite of all time was a Minnie Mouse costume my mom made for me when I was about 5 years old.  I had a Minnie Mouse head, big white gloves, and the red dress.  It was definitely memorable.

And now onto the winner of the giveaway.....

NICOLE!

Congratulations Nicole!  Email me at silverliningdecor1@yahoo.com so I can get your info!

Thanks again and I hope everyone has a wonderful fall weekend!

Vintage Plate Wall Reveal

Finally, after collecting plates for a very long time, I put it all together and couldn't be happier with the results!  I collected vintage plates in various colors, patterns, and sizes for a casual, effortless feel.  I also opted to hang the plates by using hidden discs on the back for a clean look.

With the exception of 2 anthropologie plates, I purchased all of these dishes for under $4 each at various places like yard sales, flea markets, and antique shops.

I started hanging very randomly.  I orginally thought that I would lay them all out and come up with the perfect placement for each, but I decided that would be too much trouble and I just boldly started hanging!  Could have turned out very bad but I think I did okay ;)

You may notice one broken one at the bottom.  I have Salem, my cat, to thank for that... It will eventually get replaced.

I also painted the cabinet below the plates a pale aqua.  Before it was a darker turquoise and I wanted a lighter feel with the airy plates.  I'm now looking for some new drawer pulls for it.

So, what do you think?  I am completely in love!

Beautiful Brights

Does my blog look strange to anyone else?  It was normal this morning and now all of the lettering is super big and boxy.  Weird.

Anyway, I have been doing a little decorating around here and guess what!  I finally put up the plate wall!!  I'm so excited to share it with you as soon as I take pictures!  For now, I am obsessed with some new bedding and rugs.  I have been searching and searching for new rugs.  They are really hard to find in my colors at a decent price but I managed to find a few.

For my kitchen I ordered this one today from Dash and Albert:

I've never owned one of their rugs before but I have heard great things and they are super affordable.  The designer has several huge dogs and she designs her rugs with pets and families in mind.

I'm planning on ordering this one for my family room:

Above rug also from Dash and Albert.  While googling rugs, I also came across a few from Garnet Hill.  I get their catalog but I don't usually rummage through it very often so I was shocked when I came across so many fun things online!  I ordered this runner below for my hallway and I am so excited to get it!

Garnet Hill also carries Lily Pulitzer bedding that is super fun!  I am really in love with the Sister Florals collection.  Mostly the Scarlet Begonias.

I am also loving the Piper duvet cover from Pine Cone Hill.  Which do you like better?  Garnet Hill(above) or Pine Cone Hill(below)?

I'm looking forward to making a few changes around here to prepare for the long, cold, winter months!

While browsing Garnet Hill I found a few other pieces I thought were worth sharing.  I am so in love with this turned poster bed.

And how cute are those cubes at the foot of the bed!

Adorable!  I want one of these, and...

and one of these in every color!!  I'm very much drawn to the tangerines in these two items.

Silver Lining in Real Life: Wedding Edition

I haven't done one of these posts in a while, so I am thrilled to bring you the beautiful and super sweet Nicole!  Nicole contacted me about one of my necklaces a few months ago.  She wanted me to make my turquoise and coral multi strand necklace in a custom color combo to wear for her wedding ceremony.

Here's the original necklace:

Nicole wanted to use the turquoise beads but change the coral out for a bright orange.  The combination was so striking and I love a bride who has fun with her jewerly!

Here is how Nicole looked in her necklace!  Isn't she gorgeous?!  I was so honored to make something for her special day :)
