A vintage Christmas and a little reveal

So I still have not put up any more Christmas decorations because there has just been no time, but I did manage to snap a few pictures of my minimal displays.  My tree is still half decorated so I will wait to share that til it's done(which may be after Christmas at the rate we're going).

Over the years I have collected many beautiful vintage glass ornaments.  I usually display them in a huge collection of apothecary jars as the centerpiece of my farmhouse table, but this year I kept it simple in one jar in my kitchen.

I have the huge vintage pink glass pick, that fits just perfectly in a vintage planter also in my kitchen.

I love how the colors of these ornaments all work with my vintage plate wall.

I am happy to report that I finally got drawer pulls to put on this cabinet!  Woohoo!

My last little display is a collection of vintage style glittery houses and bottle brush trees I put on top of my armoire.

Last, I have a little hardwood floor reveal.  This is the first time I have shared my family room with you guys.  The funny thing is that we spent all that time installing hardwood floors, only to cover them up with an area rug!  Remember the Dash and Albert rug I blogged about?  The sofas aren't my favorite thing in the room, but about 6 years ago I had them custom made and spent a pretty penny on them so they will have to stick around for a while.  It's funny how our tastes can change so quickly.

I need to paint the base and refinish the top of my coffee table now that my rug is green.  The two greens don't match so I will probably go with a creamy white.

Hope your holiday shopping and decorating is going well!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas

Tuesday, my husband and I finally had the chance to take a day for ourselves.  It was much needed "us" time.  What did we decide to do with "our" time, you ask?  Well, we climbed up a ladder to which we both have a horrible fear of hights and hung our Christmas lights! Yes, very exciting here, people.  We keep it fairly simple, but still want a little festive cheer, so we use the icicle lights on our roof and wrap the porch in pre-lit green garland and green topiary pre-lit trees.

If I were a little more courageous I would try to put the lights on our dormer windows, but I really value my life more than that ;)

We also pulled out our tree, and spent about an hour trying to figure out what section of lights plugs into what.  After failing miserably, pulled out the goold ol' extension cord and plugged in all the leftover plugs and voila!  We had a lit tree.  I then pulled out about 1/8th of our usual Christmas decorations and called it a day.  I might get around to adding a few more things to the decor, but for now this is as good as it's going to get.

I will share the tree and decorations another day.  How's your holiday decorating going?  Do you go all out or keep it simple?  Do you put lights up outside?  I'd love to hear about it!
