Cozy up with a fabulous rug

There are a few things that I tend to always look at when shopping for home goods.  Lamps, pillows, and rugs.  I don't know why, but these three things always catch my attention.  There's nothing like a beautiful lamp, or shade, and pillows can add that color and texture needed, and rugs can totally transform a room.

While recently browsing some of my favorite online shops, I have come across some beautiful, and inexpensive rugs that I would love to add to my home.  If only I had more rooms!  And let's be real...money!

This gorgeous collection of rugs is from Garnet Hill.  I would love to get my hands on the navy or coral Ikat, any one of the flat cotton weaves, or the aqua chevron!  I have ordered rugs from Garnet Hill before and they do no disappoint.

This next rug from Urban Outfitters is going to be making it's way to my living room one day.  A girl can dream, right?  And at only $199 for an 8x10 this is a steal!

I recently purchased a UO rug for our master bedroom and absolutely love it!  The quality is great for such a cheap price.

Urban Outfitters has several other great finds, all great accents to add splashes of color to your decor.

Would you believe the rug below is from Walmart?!  And only $35 for a 5x7?!  I haven't seen it in person, so I don't know the quality, but what a price for a fun pattern!  And it comes in pink and teal.

Last on my list of favorites are these Homespun Trellis rugs from Rugs USA.  A huge selection of colors are available and just over $300 for an 8x10 area rug.

These are my current top picks, what's your favorite?  Follow me along on Pinterest to see more fab finds!

Fall Style and a Sale!

If you're a fan on Facebook, then you've already seen the preview of new goodies I added to my shop for the upcoming fall season.

Last year I introduced my mosaic earrings and they have since turned into one of my most popular styles.  I have even been fortunate enough to develop a working relationship with ModCloth.com and they have carried my mosaic earrings in addition to a few other favorite styles.  I have now added brown and green to the mix for the perfect fall accessory.  Additionally, the hobnail earrings are now available in black.  A little vintage, a little edgy, and great for every day wear!

In honor of the upcoming fall season, I am offering 10% off of your entire order now through Friday!  Use code FALL10 upon checkout to receive your discount.  Sale ends Sunday, September 1st.

Become a fan on Facebook to see all of the new goodies as they make their way into the shop and be the first to know about other sales and promos.

Mason - 3 Months

3 months.  It feels like forever ago that I was anxiously awaiting this sweet baby boy, yet when I look back I can't believe that 3 months have passed already!  It's amazing how time works that way.

A few quick pictures from our 3 month photo shoot.  Daddy in the background trying to squeeze a smile out of a baby that wasn't feeling it.

Noticing a trend with those hands?  I think my little guy may be teething.  I did a little research and it seems that babies can start teething at 3 months.  He's drooling constantly and sucking on anything he can get in his mouth.  I know babies like to suck on things anyway, but I tend to think it just might be teething.  Guess we will see!  Anyone else experience teething around this age?

Organizing Your Life

I will never claim to be the most organized person.  My husband always says that I am "organized chaos".  I think it's the artist inside of me.  I know where and what things are, but to the ordinary person, it might look like a mess.  Maybe.  That being said, I feel after having Mason that I could use a little more organization in my life.  I found this great Life Planning System on Pinterest and have already printed out some of the pages that I can apply to my daily life.  The best part?  It's free!  And there is everything from shopping lists, to a monthly budget breakdown, to a list of movies you'd like to watch.

Growing up So Fast - 11 week Photo Dump

I can hardly believe how fast Mason is growing!  He is now 11 weeks old and such a sweet baby.  When he was born, Mason weighed in at 6lbs 7.5 oz. and was wearing premie for a short while, and newborn clothing for a long while.  He is officially in 0-3 and 3 month clothing now so I am making sure to get him into every single outfit I purchased while pregnant before he gets too big for them.  This boy is growing like a weed!

I love to see this smile, and I have learned every silly face and funny noise that will squeeze it out of him.

Trying on his new hat.  Adorable.

Loving our evening walks to explore the outdoors.

Utilizing that thumb to be patient while Mama gets ready.

Showing me that he can cry if he wants to.

Baby in jeans.  Nuff said.

Accidentally coordinating with Aunt Kelsey.

Naked baby.  The best.

Love this boy!

Around the House

While browsing around Pinterest this morning, I came across a few images from my house and decided I should collectively put together a post of our home.  It's a fun place for us to live.

We own a small cape cod that had little to no character when we purchased it.  It was your basic builder grade home that was just fine and dandy, but we prefer a little more charm(and you will soon learn, color) in our environment.

Our very first project was the kitchen.  We pretty much completely overhauled the kitchen the day we stepped foot into our house.  I'm already itching to re-do my kitchen, but for now, this is what we are living with.  We painted the maple cabinets a creamy white, the walls a buttery yellow, new stainless appliances, sink, faucet, counter tops, and wainscotting on the walls.  See our wallpaper backsplash tutorial here.

The next project we did was the installation of wallpaper in our guest bathroom.  I hired a professional for this job since it would be a fairly costly mistake if I tried it myself and it didn't turn out well.

Next was our guest bedroom that is one of my all time favorite rooms.  It's super bright and cheerful.

Our living room has seen a few makeovers, and is currently soothing shades of aqua and lime.

Since I work from home making jewelry, my husband and I put together this studio on a shoestring budget using clearance cabinets from Lowe's.  Love my little space!

Most recently, we shared our master bedroom makeover.

And of course, Mason's nursery!

Our house is ever-evolving and I'm sure will see many more changes by the time we move on from here.  What can I say?  I enjoy the projects and putting my personal touch on my space.

Mason at 2 Months

I cannot believe our baby boy is growing so fast!  In just 2 short months, Mason has changed so much.  He is developing his own little personality, as well as learning new things every day.

Right now he is smiling, laughing and cooing!  He has been very colicky since about 2 weeks of age, so when we see the smiles and hear the giggles it melts our hearts.  My favorite thing to do right now is to kiss his chubby little cheek as he turns to me to give a big, wet, open-mouthed kiss right back.  Pure love.

He loves laying on his play gym and swatting at toys.  I have many a video of this little man flailing all limbs in excitement.  As far as the colic goes, we've learned that he absolutely loves dancing with dad to music, and being swayed to sleep in front of the range exhaust fan.  Go figure.  Hey, whatever works, right?

Bath time is our favorite.  He is still in his whale bath tub, not fully submerged, but boy does he love to lay there in the warm water and has even started kicking his feet to feel the splashes.

It's so fun to compare this month with last month.

He has filled out so much.  Mason is also starting to hold his head up on his own most of the time.  He still has moments of spastic head bobbing, but for the most part he is getting very good at it.

Life with a newborn is amazing, hard, beautiful, challenging, rewarding, exhausting, and the best time of my life.  I wouldn't trade any of it for anything in the world.  I love this boy more than I ever thought possible.

A Closer Look into the Nursery - And a Source List

Mason has been home for 1 month now and we have mainly used his nursery as a changing station.  We have spent a little time in his rocker trying to sooth a fussy baby, but I'm not quite ready to leave him in there to nap or sleep through the night.  I know one day he'll get plenty of use out of this room, but for now I want him as close to me as possible.

That being said, I thought I'd share a few photos my friend Elizabeth took along with a few of the item sources.

Custom mobile by Lovely Friend on Etsy.

Book ends from Home Goods.

Jellycat puppy dog plushie.

Custom rocker from Posh Tots.
Anchor pillow, chevron blanket, and decorative basket from Marshall's.
Rug from Land of Nod.

Whale plush rattle from Janie and Jack.

Nursery art by Sunshine Ink Studio.

Pom pom garland by Stitch Bake Make on Etsy.
White Moroccan mirror from Home Goods.

Handmade custom pillow was a shower gift..

Wood letters from Hobby Lobby, and hand painted by me.

Boat blanket from One Kings Lane.

Various pillows are handmade and from Overstock.com.

Larkin crib from Pottery Barn Kids.

I've also been asked several times what the color of the nursery is.

So there you have it.  A full source list on the goodies in our nursery.
A special thanks to my friend Elizabeth for taking these fun photos!
