Opinions, Please!

Okay, so my "red room" is constantly a work in progress.  It's one of my favorite rooms in the house-though it's only a guest room!  It's just so light and airy.  It's on the front of the house so the best light comes through those windows at all times of the day.

It's constantly a work in progress because I am always looking for that perfect balance of red, aqua and crisp white.  I'm very particular about the reds matching in there perfectly, and for the most part they do.

See the plain, boring lamp to the right of the bed?  It's actually from PB Teen.  I searched and searched for the perfect lamp to complement the one on the left side-and never found it!  I settled for this one which I'm not in love with, but it does the trick.  It's shorter than I thought it would be so I had to give it some height by sitting it on top of a metal container.

Anyway, I have been putting off covering the shade in fabric because I'm not quite sure what print I want to put on it.  One thing I know-it NEEDS a print.  I would love your opinions!

I have considered using the red background with white polka dot I used on the euro shams, only because I have a bit of it left over.

Here are some other options:

The white background is nice because it keeps the look of the shade light.

It's hard to tell on my computer monitor which red would work, so I will most likely need to order memo samples of whatever the final pick is-but I would love your input!  Tell me which one you like the best, pleeeease!  I know which one I'm leaning towards, but would really enjoy hearing what you think!

  1. Ok first of all...this room is ADORABLE!!! I think finding a lampshade is such a minor detail, only b/c IMO, this room is just perfect! But if you want my opinion, I'm always partial to ikat! I don't know how it would do in the room though! I'm sure whatever you do it will look amazing!

  2. I have to agree, this room is amaaaazing. I wish I could live in it! Hahaha. Or at least hang out in it.

For the lamp I'd use the third or fourth patterns, they're my favorite. Maybe the fourth because it contains more red like the one on the other side to match. So that's my opinion! Can't wait to see what you choose.

  3. OK, that room is so adorable!!! Love all the red and it really pops next to the white. And the turquoise accents are perfect. Can I come stay there??? :)

I actually prefer the fabric you already have. I like the idea of repeating the pattern elsewhere in the room. And I think to give symmetry and balance you need a fabric with more red than white to echo the other lampshade. Plus you've already got it and know that it's the right shade of red you need. Just my opinion as I'm sure whatever you pick will look fabulous! Good luck!

  6. second from the bottom would look best in my opinion. you could do the polka dots, but i wouldn't recommend it because the lamp sits too close to the shams. the other lamp and curtains are far away from each other (know what I mean?) good luck!

  7. LOVE this room! Lots of opinions here I've read - and you probaly can't go wrong with the great choices you have. I lean toward the top two... the dot would tie the lamp in with the pillow/bed and the mini leaf toss would have a similar feel. I like the swirl too, though. The bottom two samples seem to me like they might compete with the other lamp...?

  8. LOVE this room - our kitchen is the same. Red, white and aqua...but mostly red. My vote is to leave the shade itself as is but tie a red ribbon around the neck of the stand. We had to settle for a white ceramic utensil holder instead of red, and we put a red polka dot ribbon around it. Super cute and keeps the room from being too overloaded with red.
